Question And Answer Time

Q.   Do you have any plans for me to look at?

A.     We prefer to design unique, “one off” homes for our clients, and take into consideration important features like position of your land, sun and shade, family needs etc., so to that end, we like to sit down with you, find out your ideas, add our own, and even refer to some of the homes we’ve already done that may have features you’re looking for, and come up with the layout and home that fits you perfectly.

Q.   Do you have a display home?

A.   Not for the present. As we work from home, we find it easier to sit down with families on a one on one basis, without disruptions, in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Clients are welcome to either come look at our own home, or we have a number of clients who are only to happy to show off their home.

Q.     I've done a drawing, can you give me a quote from that?

A.     A proper estimate will only come once a drawing is done to scale to take into account technical design and overall house size is approximated. We use the terms estimate and approximated because only once a site contour has been done, soil testing and engineering has been completed, can a true quote be given. This is because of the fall of the land, soil types and required engineering will vary from site to site. By the time all these reports have been compiled we can usually determine the cost and type of internal fittings you want, thereby giving you a true costing of your new home. This way, you’ll know up front, what your home will cost to finish from top to bottom. There are no hidden surprises.

Q.   How much do you charge?

A.     This is the most asked question and often the hardest to answer. We do not restrict our clients choices in any way. We will guide you with our standard inclusions list, but it’s entirely up to you and your wish list. How much the home costs, depends entirely on what you want to put in it.

Q.   What do I get for my money?

A.     Your completed home is exactly that, complete. Our aim is everything done, no defects. You walk in and put the kettle on. (sorry we don’t unpack) Our prices include all pergolas under existing house roof, driveways (to a standard block, even a clothesline, a mailbox and a TV antenna. We leave some things out that we have found people prefer to do themselves such as turf or fencing, though we’ll happily include it if that's what you want . Inside is completely finished, all floor coverings, all light and fan fittings, windows and sliding doors are screened. We have what we call our standard range of inclusions that we work on as a guide for you. Some of the brands used include PGH, Fowler, Westinghouse, Smeg/OmegaBristle, Caroma and G James Glass and Stegbar. If you want to step up in your tiles, taps etc., then the rate will go up, if you select cheaper accessories, then the rate goes down. With Mikiah Homes, the choices are all yours. You are not restricted in anyway for what you want in your home. After all, it's exactly that! Your home. We base our prices on your selections, you're only restriction is your imagination and budget. Please feel free to contact us for an inclusions list.

Q.   Why should I come to you to build our home?

A.   Choice, freedom, quality and care. Choice, because we want you to have a say in the colour schemes and the selections and the inclusions in your home. Freedom, because you have the freedom to create your lifestyle for your family. Quality, because Rick is there every step of the way during construction to ensure that the home you ask for is the home you get and finished to a standard that you will be proud to tell your family and friends who built it. And finally, care. We care enough to try and make this as simple and pain free as possible and that we are there for you to talk to when you have questions. We care enough to understand the huge commitment you’re making in building a home and we want you to look back and be happy that you chose the right builder to build you the right home.
